Das **Hotel Saffron** liegt so zentral, dass Innenstadt, Burg und Donau in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar sind. Das Buffet ist wirklich *fein* – von frischen Semmeln bis zu slowakischen Spezialitäten ist alles dabei. Ein guter Start, um die Stadt zu erkunden. Der Plan für heute: das **Denkmal Slavín**, das größte Kriegsdenkmal Mitteleuropas. Das Denkmal thront auf einem Hügel, der schon von Weitem sichtbar ist – gleich wie der **Fernsehturm Bratislava** auf dem Berg Kamnik. Andererseits ist Russland heute selbst kein Vorbild, und die „Befreier“ unterdrückten die Slowaken jahrzehntelang. Ein *frustrierender* Gedanke, der sich schwer abschütteln lässt. Der Blick von oben ist trotzdem atemberaubend: Die Burg, die Donau und das **UFO** (die Aussichtsplattform auf der SNP-Brücke) liegen wie auf einem Tablett. In einer belebten Seitenstraße werden wir im **Pheasant Pub** fündig. Der Pub macht einen netten Eindruck: dunkles Holz, gemütliche Sitznischen und eine Karte, die von slowakischen Klassikern bis zu internationalen Gerichten alles bietet. Nichts Dramatisches, aber es trübt den ansonsten guten Eindruck. Mein Tipp: Beim Kassieren genau hinschauen – dann steht einem entspannten Abend nichts im Weg. ### Burg, UFO und ein Abend an der Donau Weiter geht’s zur **Burg Bratislava**. Ursprünglich Sitz der ungarischen Könige, später eine Kaserne und heute ein Museum, ist sie das Wahrzeichen der Stadt. Bratislava liegt einem zu Füßen, und in der Ferne hört man Kanonendonner – eine Gruppe stellt eine mittelalterliche Schlacht nach. Das **Restaurant Dunajský Pivovar**, ein schwimmendes Brauhaus, überzeugt mit tollem Blick auf die beleuchtete Stadt. Die Lichter des Fernsehturms streuen ihre Strahlen über Bratislava, und die Donau glitzert im Mondlicht. Der Weg zum Bahnhof ist wenig spektakulär, aber in Wien nutzen wir die Zeit für ein paar Fotos rund um den Hauptbahnhof. Die Geschichte ist allgegenwärtig – mal beeindruckend, mal bedrückend. Die Menschen sind freundlich, das Essen gut, und die Aussichten grandios. Ich werde sicher nochmal mit Brigitte hierherkommen, und auch mit Norbert und Alex war es eine *tolle* Zeit. Gottfried hat gefehlt, aber er war in Gedanken immer dabei. Jetzt freue ich mich schon auf das nächste Mal, Jungs – dann mit mehr Zeit und weniger Hetze.
